Belgorod is located in Russia, in the Belgorod region, in the southwest of the country. Its history goes back more than six centuries.

The first mention of Belgorod dates back to 1237, when it was captured by the Mongol-Tatars. The city was built on the site of an ancient settlement, which indicates its ancient history.

During the Patriotic War of 1812, Belgorod suffered significant destruction from the advancing French troops. At the end of the 19th century, the city began to industrialize and became a thriving center of agricultural and industrial activity.

During World War II, Belgorod found itself on the front line and was completely destroyed. However, after the war the city was restored and became one of the leading industrial centers of Russia.
